Does your home decor tell your story?

Storyology-A New Chapter in Home Decor has taken to heart interior designer and author Becky Dietrich’s philosophy, “Great interior design has nothing to do with the amount of money you spend. It has to do with how well your home tells your story. Successful design inspires curiosity and makes your family and guests feel nurtured. It makes them want to say, ‘Because I’ve been here, I feel I know you in a whole new way.'” This is where Storyology comes in.

Turning two antique dolls into the down payment on their first home made a believer out of Jan Agnello’s husband, Steve. He’s now a “Shark Tank” investor in her business! They travel from Florida to California in search of unique treasures to save you money and crack the mold of monotony. She uses traditional Italian restoration and old world techniques to add gold and silver leaf to deserving pieces. She also applies her reupholstering talent to revive pieces with classic or unusual lines. Other conversation pieces include one-of-a-kind lighting, custom folded books, and original artisan plates.

You want to check out this talented Dealer in Hall H 515… Because we all have a story to tell.

Carlotta Stapleton

Carlotta Stapleton

Of all fashion accessories, the hat is by far the most significant. You might even say each decade can be defined by the style of hat popular at that time. One shop at Lakewood 400,Couture Carlotta, is like walking into a quality lady’s store from days gone bye featuring more hats than you can imagine.

As a child, owner Carlotta Stapleton idolized Melly fromGone With The Wind, wanting to be just like her. She grew up just as gracious, and loving all the accessories a Southern lady employs. Her career as a Flight Attendant with American Airlines afforded her many opportunities to collect the treasures all over the world which now fill her beautiful shop.
Carlotta secretly desires to be a milliner and can design or enhance a hat just for you.
The film industry regularly shops with Carlotta for movies since they are sure to find all styles needed. She might be enticed to “rent” a hat as well.
In addition to all the accessories for an elegant lady from hat pins to china teacups to glamorous vanities, Carlotta offers styling tips and will gladly search for specific fashions for you.

With Easter just around the corner, April 20, this is one shop you want to check out … Hall H 503. Carlotta will make you make you feel right at home.

Dan and Melanie Leigh are partners in this business although their interest are quite different.
Melanie grew up with grandmothers and aunts who sewed, so sewing is in her blood. She started sewing at age 8 on a hand cranked machine. She has 10 machines that she uses sometimes 5 at a time, doing custom sewing, usually children’s clothing, gifts, American Girl outfits to match girls, window treatments and embroidery. Melanie is a Martha Pullen certified sewing teacher.
Here’s the clincher … Melanie does on site monogramming on just about anything … market totes, travel cups, napkins, pocket tee’s, children’s hoodie towels, water bottles and can koozies. Remember this when you are looking for a special gift!
Dan Leigh at Lakewood 400     Dan, on the other hand, is truly into advertising and pottery, mostly North Georgia … Meddels, Crocker, etc. But his end of this shop is full of antiques and collectibles.
Between them, Dan has two sons, Melanie has two daughters, and one granddaughter. Both are retired postmasters from the Atlanta district.
They recently purchased a 3 year vacant home in Free Home on 3 acres and are in the process of remodeling.
According to Dan, “thanks to our faith in each other and God we are still together. Remodeling is not for the faint of heart!”

If you are into Weird, Unusual, or Slightly Creepy,  you’ll want to meet experts John Iacullo and Anita Westlake of Earthly Things & Coveted Curiosities. In addition to fossil shark teeth, meteorites, polished stones, and amber, you’ll find some things that sound normal but probably have a slight twist in some way … pocket watches, hand-made jewelry, antique cameras, phones, knick-knacks, bar sets, artwork, and more.
Both John and Anita love science and sharing their knowledge with kids and adults. Anita lectures on Meteorites, Geo-Hazards, and various Geology related topics. She is past president of the Georgia Mineral Society and co-founder and past president of the Meteorite Association of Georgia.
John has been collecting fossils since he was a small boy in Florida. He knows a little about everything and according to Anita, “if he doesn’t know, he’ll be happy to make something up.” John is also one of the appraisor of the NAWCC, but at Lakewood he does “free” pocket watch appraisals.
Meeting John and Anita is a delightful, educational, and somewhat quirky experience you don’t want to miss.
Find them at Hall D 205.

In the 20 years Claudette Ingram was at the old Historic Lakewood and 5 years at Lakewood 400, she and her son and daughter-in-law have framed an array of items while their customers shopped the Market!

Wes Hall, a regular to Lakewood 400, says “The Traveling Framer is the best place to get all of your framing done.  They have a very good selection of frames and can get the framing done while you shop most of the time.  I will always go to them first to get my framing done.  And I think that their pricing is very good.”

The Traveling Framer offers quality custom framing on the spot.  They specialize in antique and collectible framing, anything from canvas to shadow boxes, prints, photography and collectible items such as jerseys and other sports items, and even one time a whip!  Additional services include shrink wrap, mats and glass replacement.  Reach The Traveling Framer at cjing2@bellsouth.net
